Additional FAQs

What are the best ear plugs for snoring?

The best ear plugs for snoring depend on your comfort and the level of noise you need to block. Foam ear plugs expand in the ear canal, while silicone earplugs mould to the shape of your ear. There are also specialist options like noise cancelling earplugs for snoring and isolate ear plugs. For very loud snoring, dense high-decibel (dB) ear plugs for sleeping may be more effective. Ear plugs are rated by their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), which typically ranges from 22 dB to 37 dB – the higher the rating, the more noise they can reduce.

How do I put ear plugs in correctly?

For foam ear plugs, roll the plug into a small, tight cylinder, then reach over your head with the opposite hand to gently pull your ear upwards. Insert the plug into the ear canal and hold it in place while it expands to create a snug fit. Silicone and reusable ear plugs are pressed or twisted gently into place. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as fitting methods can vary. Insert them carefully and never push them too deep, as this can cause discomfort or damage to the eardrum.

Is it safe to sleep with ear plugs in every night?

Ear plugs are generally safe to use every night, as long as you follow good hygiene. Wash your hands before handling them, clean reusable plugs regularly, and replace single-use foam ear plugs often. Keeping them clean and dry helps lower the risk of irritation, earwax build-up, or infection. Avoid pushing ear plugs too far into the ear canal, as this can cause discomfort or wax blockage. If you notice pressure, itching, or soreness, try a different type or size – or consult a healthcare professional for advice.

Do ear plugs damage your ears?

When used properly, ear plugs are safe and should not damage your ears. Issues usually arise if they’re inserted too deeply, used when dirty, or not replaced often enough, which can lead to irritation or wax build-up. To prevent problems, insert them gently, keep them clean, and follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance. If you have ongoing ear problems, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional before using ear plugs regularly.

quite disappointing

I have stuck with these earplugs for a while but they seem inconsistant to me. They are a challange to fit properly sometimes and I have experienced discomfort wearing them. They do not seem to work that well for me and sometimes work their way out of the ear. The muting effect does not seem to last long and I am still awoken by airliners passing over at 4am or neighbour’s dog barking at 6am. I really hoped these would be the key to a peaceful night but, sadly, have to admit that they are not. When they work, they work quite well, but they do not seem to work that often, at least, for me. Think they are best tried before committing to a large order.

SCEPTICAL BUT NOW SOLD

After doing my research I came across this website. I was trying to find out why by partner had started snoring like a an absolute animal!!! In my search I then came across the on-line shop and the Ear Plugs where I read the 100’s of reviews. I was such a sceptic as some of the reviewers it had changed their lives all because they can get a good nights sleep! I bought them, used them that same night and I am absolutely sold sold sold! The foam fits perfectly in the shape of my ear and at first does feel a bit weird but once the foam expands, all external sounds are filtered away. My ONLY reservation is that whilst sleeping and moving about, they fall out of the ear and when I wake up in the morning they are scattered throughout the bed – so every morning it looks like we are hunting the bed for boiled rhubard and custard sweeties!!! At least I do not notice they have fallen out, as by this time, I am in a deep sleep. For this reason only my review is a great 9 rather than an excellent 10. I think overall the product is great! My partner, bless him, has been trying other products, but for the time being, I am extremely pleased I am able to get a good nights sleep. I think anyone who is a bit sceptical like I was should try them out and see how they work and maybe they will help you get to sleep like they did for me. GREAT! GREAT! GREAT BUY!

Review Title

These ear plugs are great. Not too fiddly once you get the hang of them. Really good night’s sleep.

Highly recommend

I must admit I was a little dubious about these ear plugs as I had tried the wax type before and have also used cyclinder type foam ear plugs – both of which I found annoying in different ways. The foam ones never stayed in my ear and the wax ones didnt stay in all night either and got dirty. So when my boyfriends snoring starting getting worse, I feared that we may never be able to share a bed again!! Fear not – these Snore Calm ear plugs are fantastic. They sit in the ear nicely, dont fall out, you cant even feel them and they block out the noise brilliantly. I never thought id get a good nights sleep again but I would highly recommend these to suffering partners of snorers!
