Additional FAQs
What are the best ear plugs for snoring?
The best ear plugs for snoring depend on your comfort and the level of noise you need to block. Foam ear plugs expand in the ear canal, while silicone earplugs mould to the shape of your ear. There are also specialist options like noise cancelling earplugs for snoring and isolate ear plugs. For very loud snoring, dense high-decibel (dB) ear plugs for sleeping may be more effective. Ear plugs are rated by their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), which typically ranges from 22 dB to 37 dB – the higher the rating, the more noise they can reduce.
How do I put ear plugs in correctly?
For foam ear plugs, roll the plug into a small, tight cylinder, then reach over your head with the opposite hand to gently pull your ear upwards. Insert the plug into the ear canal and hold it in place while it expands to create a snug fit. Silicone and reusable ear plugs are pressed or twisted gently into place. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as fitting methods can vary. Insert them carefully and never push them too deep, as this can cause discomfort or damage to the eardrum.
Is it safe to sleep with ear plugs in every night?
Ear plugs are generally safe to use every night, as long as you follow good hygiene. Wash your hands before handling them, clean reusable plugs regularly, and replace single-use foam ear plugs often. Keeping them clean and dry helps lower the risk of irritation, earwax build-up, or infection. Avoid pushing ear plugs too far into the ear canal, as this can cause discomfort or wax blockage. If you notice pressure, itching, or soreness, try a different type or size – or consult a healthcare professional for advice.
Do ear plugs damage your ears?
When used properly, ear plugs are safe and should not damage your ears. Issues usually arise if they’re inserted too deeply, used when dirty, or not replaced often enough, which can lead to irritation or wax build-up. To prevent problems, insert them gently, keep them clean, and follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance. If you have ongoing ear problems, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional before using ear plugs regularly.

Comfortable, but..........!
Not sure about the rhubarb and custard colouring! However these are easy to fit, provided you follow the instructions, and comfortable when fitted. But, and this is the big but, the noise reduction does not seem to live up to the specification; in other words, I still got disturbed by snoring, and hence very little sleep. Obviously this is just my personal experience, others may find these ideal. Seems the only solution for my sleeping problems when on holiday is powerful sleeping tablets, but even these are ineffective after two or three nights!
Snore calm ear plugs
My husband snores extremely loud! These are by far the best ear plugs I have ever used and really do help me get a decent nights sleep. Just make sure you roll them together as you should to get the best result from the plug. Also be patient and ensure you wait for a long moment with your finger placed over the ear and the plug to let it expand in your ear. Worth the money and an excellent service.
Very Good Indeed
These are simply the best earplugs I have found. I have been using them for years and would absolutely recommend them. They are suitable for use every night if required and are comfortable and very effective for blocking out snoring. Having tried many other types of earplugs before I settled on these I can say they offer the best noise suppression. I was even given them at a session I had at firing a shotgun and they did that job very well too! I only use them occasionally these days because my wife now has a device to help her sleep apnoea but they have been a godsend for me. Insertion is very easy as they are very pliable. The pack size is ideal, you can always have plenty on hand to give you that reassurance that you will always have a couple handy in all the places you might need to keep spares. They store very well and don’t seem to deteriorate at all after many many months in the bag. I feel confident that anyone who tries them will be very glad they did.
Sleep at last!
For years I suffered with my partner’s snoring. I have used other ear plugs in the past but none seemed to work. They blocked out 90% of my partner’s snoring which was good enough for me. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed.
Ear plugs
This is the second batch of these I have purchased. Comfortable to wear, easy to fit, a cheap solution and a godsend! I can get off to sleep without having to find another bed almost every night!!
