How to use
- Roll and compress earplug into a small crease-free cylinder
- To ensure proper fitting, reach your hand over your head and gently pull your ear upwards and outwards. Insert the compressed, rounded end of the earplug well into the ear canal
- Hold for a few seconds until earplug expands
Remove: Slowly twist and pull out of the ear canal to prevent damage to the eardrum.
Precautions
- When removing the earplug, twist slowly & gradually to break the seal. If rapid removal this may result in damaging the eardrum.
- Improper fitting will reduce effectiveness.
- Discard if earplugs come in contact with lubricants, solvents or chemical substances.
- Keep away from infants and small children when not in use.
- Note: Please discard after several uses or as soon as wax accumulates on earplugs.
Additional FAQs
What are the best ear plugs for snoring?
The best ear plugs for snoring depend on your comfort and the level of noise you need to block. Foam ear plugs expand in the ear canal, while silicone earplugs mould to the shape of your ear. There are also specialist options like noise cancelling earplugs for snoring and isolate ear plugs. For very loud snoring, dense high-decibel (dB) ear plugs for sleeping may be more effective. Ear plugs are rated by their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), which typically ranges from 22 dB to 37 dB – the higher the rating, the more noise they can reduce.
How do I put ear plugs in correctly?
For foam ear plugs, roll the plug into a small, tight cylinder, then reach over your head with the opposite hand to gently pull your ear upwards. Insert the plug into the ear canal and hold it in place while it expands to create a snug fit. Silicone and reusable ear plugs are pressed or twisted gently into place. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as fitting methods can vary. Insert them carefully and never push them too deep, as this can cause discomfort or damage to the eardrum.
Is it safe to sleep with ear plugs in every night?
Ear plugs are generally safe to use every night, as long as you follow good hygiene. Wash your hands before handling them, clean reusable plugs regularly, and replace single-use foam ear plugs often. Keeping them clean and dry helps lower the risk of irritation, earwax build-up, or infection. Avoid pushing ear plugs too far into the ear canal, as this can cause discomfort or wax blockage. If you notice pressure, itching, or soreness, try a different type or size – or consult a healthcare professional for advice.
Do ear plugs damage your ears?
When used properly, ear plugs are safe and should not damage your ears. Issues usually arise if they’re inserted too deeply, used when dirty, or not replaced often enough, which can lead to irritation or wax build-up. To prevent problems, insert them gently, keep them clean, and follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance. If you have ongoing ear problems, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional before using ear plugs regularly.

Not as comfortable as the standard snore calm earplugs
I tried the ELITE ear plugs as I have already used the standard snore calm ear plugs for years and I thought they might cut out the sound of my huusband’s snoring even more. Unfortunately I found them very thick and stiff compared to the standard snore calm and they made my ears hurt so that I ended up having to pull them out a bit until they stopped hurting. This meant that I actually heard my husband’s snoring more with the ELITE ear plugs. I have now gone back to the standard snore calm ear plugs which are definitely the best I have found.
Worth every penny.
I bought these for my partner as I snore something rotten. They genuinely seem to work and are a definite improvement on Boots own version.
Best ear plugs ive found
These are definitely the best ear plugs ive tried. They still let some sound (snoring) in but much better than before. I no longer want to throttle the other half every night, maybe just once a week!
Peace at last
I have tried numerous earplug designs in an attempt to block out the sound of my noisy neighbours who often start in the early hours of the morning. I felt like a wet rag deprived of sleep so imagine the relief to grab a few hours courtesy of these little beauties. I knew they were going to do the trick when I first put them in and couldn’t hear the radio by the bed. They were comfortable to sleep in too for much of the night and I think I could get used to wearing them all night after a bit of initial discomfort as I sleep on my side. Certainly worth a try for anyone who needs their rest.
These work
These ear plugs really do work better than other foam ones. After my husband’s hip replacement operation he was told he had to sleep on his back for about 6 weeks, but he snores the most when he sleeps in this position! So, I needed to find an ear plug that worked! I bought these after reading other reviews. I am very pleased with these plugs. I did find I had to trim off the tip as they are just a little too long….but now they are perfect. Trimming them at the very tip does not in any way affect their performance. I’d highly recommend these ear plugs for blocking out loud snoring that is right next to you!!!
