Anti-Snoring Juice

Tried, Tested & Reviewed

Ingredients:

  • Ginger (1 piece)
  • 1/4 lemon
  • 2 carrots, organic
  • 2 apples, organic

Preparation:

Juice all the ingredients and there you have your anti-snoring juice! This drink will help you sleep better and your partner will be more than happy.

The ingredients remain the same but variations of the following description appear on many health-focused websites & blogs.

“Use the power of fruits and veggies to make a nice and fresh juice. Drink it before you go to bed, and both you and the person next to you will sleep well. Do not drink alcohol and avoid eating fatty, processed foods, and dairy products for dinner if snoring bothers you and everyone around you. Juice fresh fruits and veggies for a better sleep. Always use organic products.”

The Reality - Our Review & Opinion

We’ve been unable to track down the source of this juice recipe, but the first instance we can find of it appearing on the Internet was on a health blog in December 2014 (link).

The claim is that vitamin C in the lemon will help you clear your nostrils, the ginger relieves the pain and pressure of your nose and the apples with carrots help us sleep better. Other web sites claim it cleanses the lungs and throat. It’s commonly suggested that 5 nights of continuous use should be sufficient to see a reduction in snoring.

Nights 1 to 3 we were also testing a nasal dilator. Night 4 was just with the juice and the final night we stopped tracking after initial discomfort was experienced when also testing a mandibular device.

Did it help with snoring? – Despite the somewhat varied results reported by Snorelab, yes it appeared to help a little. Our perception was that the airways felt a little clearer making breathing easier. However, it’s also worth noting that both carrots & ginger are diuretic foods so you may find you have to get up to go for a wee during the night.

If it doesn’t stop the snoring, you still get the benefit of drinking a healthy juice every day, so it’s a positive either way.

Tested & reviewed in June 2018 by a male, aged 40-50, with a BMI of 26. Identified as a multifactoral snorer using the Interactive Snore Tests. A mandibular advancement device being the strongly recommended treatment.

Information provided in this review was accurate at the time of publication; however, details may have changed since then that could affect its relevance.
