Looks very similar to Airing, a crowdfunded product on Indiegogo pitched as a micro-CPAP device that has no hoses, no cords, and no mask – www.fundairing.com – however, to date, it’s yet to be made commercially available.
The outer box carries a CE mark and a RoHS logo (Restriction of Hazardous Substances, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products).
The packaging and enclosed literature makes some bold claims, but unfortunately the device does not deliver. No positive airway pressure is produced. This is definitely not a replacement for a CPAP machine or a treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea. Although designed to look similar to Airing, its functionality is not in any way the same.
On a positive note, when fitted it initially feels slightly loose in the nostrils, but it does stay in place and feels less bulky and intrusive than you’d perceive. However, almost immediately it becomes apparent that it’s much harder to breathe through your nose – it actually, takes a concerted effort to keep your mouth closed which somewhat negates the claim that ‘it makes breathing easier’. If you can conquer nasal breathing, as a nasal dilator it just about has a positive effect, but it’s negligible and much better products exist for this purpose.
Did it help with snoring? – Ever so slightly
