Description
The Somni Snore Guard Mouthpiece is designed for people who snore with their mouth open and wish to stop snoring. It is a discrete, convenient and low cost treatment for mouth breathing and the effects of snoring and bad breath. Somni Snore Guard is moulded in hot water by the user to a comfortable fit. It is completely unobtrusive and can easily be used in an aeroplane, train, etc. At least one clear nasal airway is essential as breathing through the mouth is effectively blocked by this device.
Published clinical trials have demonstrated the success of this device and since we first introduced it to our customers over 10 years ago, it has become a truly indispensable product.
Pack contents: 1 mouthpiece, 1 container, fitting instructions.
The device is made of FDA and European Standards food grade EVA.
Read Carefully: Review the instructions thoroughly before starting the fitting process.
- Prepare: Work in front of a mirror and ensure your nasal passages are clear.
- Practice Placement: Practice placing the Snore Guard in your mouth with the holes facing down and the tag positioned between your teeth. Don’t worry if it feels bulky; it will shrink to fit.
- Heat and Soften: Mix 3 cups of boiling water with 2 cups of cold tap water in a bowl. Immerse the Snore Guard in the mixture for 20–30 seconds until it becomes soft.
- Mold to Fit: Quickly transfer the softened Snore Guard to your mouth. Gently clench the tag between your teeth and close your lips over the device. Suck your lips and cheeks onto the guard while pressing the tag against the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Hold this position for 60 seconds.
- Check Fit: Rinse the Snore Guard in cold water, then return it to your mouth to check the fit. Your lips should close comfortably with only a slight sensation of pressure.
The consequences of mouth breathing at night are often bad breath (halitosis) and snoring, both of which are undesirable and unpleasant for others.
- Halitosis is caused by decaying bacteria located on the tongue, palate and areas between the teeth. The effect of decay is enhanced when you breathe through your mouth at night, as an open mouth leads to loss of moisture on the tongue and palate and also allows unpleasant odour to escape; ‘morning breath’.
- In addition to mouth breathing, the intake of certain foods, drink, and drugs are known to cause a dry mouth and halitosis. Onion and garlic, for example, contain high concentrations of sulphur that pass through the lining of the intestines into the blood-stream and are subsequently released into the lungs and exhaled; ‘garlic breath’.
- Similarly, proteins in dairy products break down in the mouth leading to the release of amino acids that are rich in sulphur; ‘eggy breath’.
- Alcoholic drinks decrease saliva production resulting in a dry mouth and consequent bad breath. Smoking raises the concentration of volatile compounds in the mouth and lungs and because it too has a drying effect on the oral mucosa, the unpleasant smell of smoke is not only exhaled from the lungs but is also present in the mouth.
- Certain drugs such as antidepressants and antihistamines predispose to dry mouth leading to halitosis.

I tried...
I bought this not because I was a snorer but because I have always slept with my mouth open and wake up, normally several times during the night, with a dry mouth. I also grind my teeth and get jaw ache. I thought by having this to force me to breathe through my nose and the guard in my mouth would help me to stop grinding. I used this with the attitude that it was not going to be a miracle cure and that I would need to persevere if it was going to help me. My main problem was getting the guard to stay up on the top of mouth. I reshaped it several times to get to right and reviewed your video on how to fit it correctly. But I could not get it to stay there and would wake up with it just dangling in my mouth and I would be breathing over the top of it. I even bought some denture fixative and tried that. These kept it in place but have ever tried to get fixative out from between your teeth every morning? I stuck with the guard for about 10 days but gave up. The idea of this is great but practically I could not get it to work for me.
Somni Snore Guard
I decided to give this prodcut a go as I know my snoring can be very loud on some occassions. When I tried it the first night I was told by my partner that my snoring had greatly been reduced, maybe by not a 100% but much better than before. The first few days the guard will feel a little awkward in your mouth, but after a about 5 days it will feel much better and you wont even notice its there. I would reccomend this to anyone who has problems with snoring.
Somni snore guard
A most successful purchase. Combined with using Rhynil this has virtually eliminated my overnight snoring much to the joy of my wife (and myself). Easy to use and get used to, I would recommend this product to anyone with a similar problem of non violent snoring. Many thanks indeed and I shall be back in 6 months for a new one as recommended.
Simple and easy to fit-oh, and it works!
Instructions were easy to follow and after watching someone else mould and fit their device (courtesy of YouTube) I knew what I had to do. I didn’t have to alter the mould to fit and had no issues with it rubbing my gums. It does feel a bit weird the first night or so but you soon get used to it. The results were dramatic for me-getting a good nights sleep at last and when I wake up, I don’t have to stress about my partner having had to get up to go to the spare room – he would totally recommend this simple device. I should also add that I fitted mine over my invisalign braces without any issues.
Simple product but very effective
I don’t normally leave reviews however I really should spread the news on this simple mouth guard, my husband is a really bad snorer, certainly not over weight, does not drink or smoke, he even had his tonsils out 2 years ago to prevent him having to sleep in the spare room, to no avail. I then saw this and thought I would give it a go and my only regret is I never brought it years ago, it really does work, yes I can hear the odd noise but nothing that keeps me awake, this truely is a miracle, give it a go, don’t be a suffering partner. My husband got used to wearing it from night one, it’s even be coming on holiday with us.
