Description

The Somni Snore Guard Mouthpiece is designed for people who snore with their mouth open and wish to stop snoring. It is a discrete, convenient and low cost treatment for mouth breathing and the effects of snoring and bad breath. Somni Snore Guard is moulded in hot water by the user to a comfortable fit. It is completely unobtrusive and can easily be used in an aeroplane, train, etc. At least one clear nasal airway is essential as breathing through the mouth is effectively blocked by this device.

Published clinical trials have demonstrated the success of this device and since we first introduced it to our customers over 10 years ago, it has become a truly indispensable product.

Pack contents: 1 mouthpiece, 1 container, fitting instructions.

Materials

The device is made of FDA and European Standards food grade EVA.

How to fit/mould

Read Carefully: Review the instructions thoroughly before starting the fitting process.

  1. Prepare: Work in front of a mirror and ensure your nasal passages are clear.
  2. Practice Placement: Practice placing the Snore Guard in your mouth with the holes facing down and the tag positioned between your teeth. Don’t worry if it feels bulky; it will shrink to fit.
  3. Heat and Soften: Mix 3 cups of boiling water with 2 cups of cold tap water in a bowl. Immerse the Snore Guard in the mixture for 20–30 seconds until it becomes soft.
  4. Mold to Fit: Quickly transfer the softened Snore Guard to your mouth. Gently clench the tag between your teeth and close your lips over the device. Suck your lips and cheeks onto the guard while pressing the tag against the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Hold this position for 60 seconds.
  5. Check Fit: Rinse the Snore Guard in cold water, then return it to your mouth to check the fit. Your lips should close comfortably with only a slight sensation of pressure.
Consequences of mouth breathing

The consequences of mouth breathing at night are often bad breath (halitosis) and snoring, both of which are undesirable and unpleasant for others.

  • Halitosis is caused by decaying bacteria located on the tongue, palate and areas between the teeth. The effect of decay is enhanced when you breathe through your mouth at night, as an open mouth leads to loss of moisture on the tongue and palate and also allows unpleasant odour to escape; ‘morning breath’.
  • In addition to mouth breathing, the intake of certain foods, drink, and drugs are known to cause a dry mouth and halitosis. Onion and garlic, for example, contain high concentrations of sulphur that pass through the lining of the intestines into the blood-stream and are subsequently released into the lungs and exhaled; ‘garlic breath’.
  • Similarly, proteins in dairy products break down in the mouth leading to the release of amino acids that are rich in sulphur; ‘eggy breath’.
  • Alcoholic drinks decrease saliva production resulting in a dry mouth and consequent bad breath. Smoking raises the concentration of volatile compounds in the mouth and lungs and because it too has a drying effect on the oral mucosa, the unpleasant smell of smoke is not only exhaled from the lungs but is also present in the mouth.
  • Certain drugs such as antidepressants and antihistamines predispose to dry mouth leading to halitosis.

The Best Yet!

Why didn’t I check out this site 1st for their products???? Have had tried the other mouth guards and found that yes the reduce my snoring but they were very uncomfortable. My teeth would ache most of the following day and also found myself gagging a little putting in and and taking it out.Bought the Somni Snore Guard and found it so less intrusive in the mouth. Very comfortable from the start. I did, as it states in the leaflet produce an increased amount of saliva for the first couple of nights but has been fine since, and yes no complaints, nudges and shakes from my partner!! Waking up in the mornings feeling much more refreshed. Really pleased just gutted I wasted a fortune on other products.

Great Product!!!!

I have suffered with snoring since early years. Being a woman, this had a negative effect on my self esteem since I found nothing to help.It affected all my personal relationships

Somni snore guard

I actually bought this product to protect my teeth as I grind them at night, and found the hard plastic tooth guard my dentist sold me – for over £300! – uncomfortable and intrusive to use, even after using it for 18 months. The Somni snore guard was a complete joy from the start, so comfortable I immediately forgot I had it in my mouth. I then recommended it to my husband, who snores; he bought one too, also found it comfortable to wear, and it’s stopped him snoring. He says he’s slept so much better since using it. I think his snoring used to wake him up several times a night and he never got uninterrupted sleep before, and neither did I, so we’re both delighted with the product.

Snoring mouth guard

I have been using the mouth guard for a few weeks and have found it excellent. I have ceased snoring and I am feeling fitter from the fact I am now having a peaceful nights sleep. Exccellent value and very easy to wear. I was advised by my specialist to try this a I have sleep Apnoea. My dentist fitted my guard and was amazed to see such a easy guard to use. My husband has now had several weeks of undistrubed sleep.

Jury is out

Only started using the product within the last week as we were away on holiday. Instructions were very easy to follow, but decided to do the procedure twice as the fit was a bit loose. As far as usage is concerned have not had any probs in getting off to sleep, but i have woke up several times and found it has popped out. Last night it was in all night and my wife reports that overall the snoring has improved although she can still hear me snoring through the nose, but this may be due to the legacy of a cold i had aweek or so ago. I will keep persevering!
