Description
The Somni Snore Guard Mouthpiece is designed for people who snore with their mouth open and wish to stop snoring. It is a discrete, convenient and low cost treatment for mouth breathing and the effects of snoring and bad breath. Somni Snore Guard is moulded in hot water by the user to a comfortable fit. It is completely unobtrusive and can easily be used in an aeroplane, train, etc. At least one clear nasal airway is essential as breathing through the mouth is effectively blocked by this device.
Published clinical trials have demonstrated the success of this device and since we first introduced it to our customers over 10 years ago, it has become a truly indispensable product.
Pack contents: 1 mouthpiece, 1 container, fitting instructions.
The device is made of FDA and European Standards food grade EVA.
Read Carefully: Review the instructions thoroughly before starting the fitting process.
- Prepare: Work in front of a mirror and ensure your nasal passages are clear.
- Practice Placement: Practice placing the Snore Guard in your mouth with the holes facing down and the tag positioned between your teeth. Don’t worry if it feels bulky; it will shrink to fit.
- Heat and Soften: Mix 3 cups of boiling water with 2 cups of cold tap water in a bowl. Immerse the Snore Guard in the mixture for 20–30 seconds until it becomes soft.
- Mold to Fit: Quickly transfer the softened Snore Guard to your mouth. Gently clench the tag between your teeth and close your lips over the device. Suck your lips and cheeks onto the guard while pressing the tag against the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Hold this position for 60 seconds.
- Check Fit: Rinse the Snore Guard in cold water, then return it to your mouth to check the fit. Your lips should close comfortably with only a slight sensation of pressure.
The consequences of mouth breathing at night are often bad breath (halitosis) and snoring, both of which are undesirable and unpleasant for others.
- Halitosis is caused by decaying bacteria located on the tongue, palate and areas between the teeth. The effect of decay is enhanced when you breathe through your mouth at night, as an open mouth leads to loss of moisture on the tongue and palate and also allows unpleasant odour to escape; ‘morning breath’.
- In addition to mouth breathing, the intake of certain foods, drink, and drugs are known to cause a dry mouth and halitosis. Onion and garlic, for example, contain high concentrations of sulphur that pass through the lining of the intestines into the blood-stream and are subsequently released into the lungs and exhaled; ‘garlic breath’.
- Similarly, proteins in dairy products break down in the mouth leading to the release of amino acids that are rich in sulphur; ‘eggy breath’.
- Alcoholic drinks decrease saliva production resulting in a dry mouth and consequent bad breath. Smoking raises the concentration of volatile compounds in the mouth and lungs and because it too has a drying effect on the oral mucosa, the unpleasant smell of smoke is not only exhaled from the lungs but is also present in the mouth.
- Certain drugs such as antidepressants and antihistamines predispose to dry mouth leading to halitosis.

Somni Snore Guard - mixed opinion
I sleep with my mouth open and wanted to start sleeping by breathing through my nose. I watched a UTube way of moulding the Guard and it was all simple. I did as followed and firmly moulded the Guard to my teeth and mouth shape….tip….don’t be too hard in your pressing like me as when it comes to sleep time it was not that comfortable. It did make me breath though my nose and although it seems strange you do get used to it. As it was a little uncomfortable I tried remoulding it but now it seems a little flimsy so a tad ruined so not sure how long it will last in which case it will be costing me twice as much as I will need to buy another. So get the moulding right first time round. The Guard in principle does as intended but wish they were cheaper in price as it just seems like a bit of rubber.
Wife loves it
Have to say first nights sleep didn’t show any improvement at all, however the next night! Bang on,I get a great night sleep and so does my wife! Seriously I’ll never not use one again! Brilliant!
One half of a winning team!
The other half is the Snore-No-More, which I’d purchased first. That product reduced my snoring by opening my nasal airways – but I was still snoring (albeit with a lower volume) through my mouth. I also subjected my poor fiancée to obscenely loud lip-smacking, for which none of the Xerostomia products had helped.I’d already tested the *Tomed* Somni SnoreGuard, and found it uncomfortable, relatively ineffective, and prone to falling out during the night. But the idea of *this* version appealed to me – keeping the mouth shut (instead of realigning the jaw), I thought it might alleviate the lip-smacking as well as the oral snoring.Fortunately, this is exactly what happened. The device was much easier to prepare compared to its tomed cousins (and also with great thanks to the video here on britishsnoring.co.uk). It was a tad uncomfortable at first, and letting it rest behind the lips but in front of the gums was an odd feeling to get used to. To be honest, I couldn’t really believe it would work – and I’m still not sure how it does. All I know is that it certainly is working, and my snoring and lip-smacking days are gone.Well, almost… Neither this product, nor the Snore-No-More, can be used if you are suffering from a cold – they don’t allow for coughs or runny noses. You will avoid yourself a lot of pain if you just don’t use them if and when you catch the bug – and you’ll save your partner a great deal of aggro if you politely remove yourself to a separate bedroom until the virus is out of your system. But that aside, this and the Snore-No-More have given me that all-elusive thing: a cure for snoring!
Somni Snore guard
I mouth breathe and snore, and have used a Mandibular Advancement Device in the past; however, I get a similar result (although there are distinct differences in how they work and what they do, and it is important to get it right for you) and of the two, I find the Snore Guard more comfortable. My main aim was to sleep with my mouth closed, in order to improve my breathing and reduce snoring – it has worked. It does seem to cause dribbling, and I have a tissue handy for mopping! But I will keep using it no matter.
Somni Snore Guard
I suffer from sinus all year round and as a result I breath through my mouth rather than my nose. As a result of this, I have constant bad breath, even though my teeth are okay and no gum disease. Ever since purchasing Somni Snore Guard, my breath has improved, the terrible smell and taste at the back of my throat is gone and my mouth is moist rather than dry in the morning. Love this product, only wish it didn’t cost so much but the price for fresh breath is worth it.I have been recommending it to my friends and family.
