Additional FAQs

What are the best ear plugs for snoring?

The best ear plugs for snoring depend on your comfort and the level of noise you need to block. Foam ear plugs expand in the ear canal, while silicone earplugs mould to the shape of your ear. There are also specialist options like noise cancelling earplugs for snoring and isolate ear plugs. For very loud snoring, dense high-decibel (dB) ear plugs for sleeping may be more effective. Ear plugs are rated by their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), which typically ranges from 22 dB to 37 dB – the higher the rating, the more noise they can reduce.

How do I put ear plugs in correctly?

For foam ear plugs, roll the plug into a small, tight cylinder, then reach over your head with the opposite hand to gently pull your ear upwards. Insert the plug into the ear canal and hold it in place while it expands to create a snug fit. Silicone and reusable ear plugs are pressed or twisted gently into place. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as fitting methods can vary. Insert them carefully and never push them too deep, as this can cause discomfort or damage to the eardrum.

Is it safe to sleep with ear plugs in every night?

Ear plugs are generally safe to use every night, as long as you follow good hygiene. Wash your hands before handling them, clean reusable plugs regularly, and replace single-use foam ear plugs often. Keeping them clean and dry helps lower the risk of irritation, earwax build-up, or infection. Avoid pushing ear plugs too far into the ear canal, as this can cause discomfort or wax blockage. If you notice pressure, itching, or soreness, try a different type or size – or consult a healthcare professional for advice.

Do ear plugs damage your ears?

When used properly, ear plugs are safe and should not damage your ears. Issues usually arise if they’re inserted too deeply, used when dirty, or not replaced often enough, which can lead to irritation or wax build-up. To prevent problems, insert them gently, keep them clean, and follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance. If you have ongoing ear problems, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional before using ear plugs regularly.

Snore calm foam ear plugs

I have had some excellent advice from BSSAA and being able to speak to an advisor was really helpful as I was at my wits end. I tried various products suggested like nasal strips/dilators, chin up strips, no use at all – my husband would not try any of the mouth devices. I have found that the very best thing for a good night’s sleep is to put the snorer in another room. If that is not possible, the next best thing is the snore calm foam ear plugs. These ear plugs do not block out all the noise from the snoring but reduce it to an acceptable level (so long as the snoring is not right at your ear). You have to push them quite far down into the ear canal but they are soft and comfortable and adjust to the space available.

Wow!

Having tried MANY earplugs over the last twenty years I cannot recommend these enough, they are fantastic. Honestly, you do not hear a thing, not even a very loud snore from the person next to you. I will never buy a different earplug again. Thank you.

snore calm foam ear plugs

My husband snores really loudly, making windows vibrate and when we lived in a house I had to sleep downstairs to get away from it but after using these ear plugs we now sleep together EVERY night without a problem! These are certainly without a doubt the best ear plugs on the market and we couldn’t live without them! THANK YOU!

Review Title

My husband has been snoring for years but over the last couple of years or so has got worse. It drives me mad and prevents me going to sleep and regularly wakes me up. I have been using store bought earplugs for years but they don’t block out all the noise. I am now using the Snore Calm earplugs. They are more comfortable than the store bought ones as the foam is much softer and they do block out slightly more noise, however they don’t block it all out. If earplugs are your choice then yes, I have found these to be the best but don’t expect a completely snore free night.

Foam Ear Plugs

I am sorry to say I was unable to have any success with these. I tried and tried to find some method of making them work everytime but the success rate was very low. Back to the wax type.
