Rhinomed Mute Nasal Dilator | Small
Pack of 3 nasal dilators | Small
The Rhinomed Mute Nasal Dilator can reduce the effects of snoring on sleep by stenting (holding open) and dilating the nasal airways. This allows the snorer to breathe more easily through their nose, keep their mouth closed during sleep and reduce the vibrations in the throat that cause snoring.

Description
The Mute Nasal Dilator has been anatomically designed to reduce the effects of snoring on sleep by stenting (holding open) and dilating the nasal airways. In turn, this allows the snorer to breathe more easily through their nose, keep their mouth closed during sleep and reduce the vibrations in the throat causing snoring.
Mute can be used on its own to alleviate snoring caused by nasal obstruction, such as congestion, or it can be used in conjunction with other solutions which may help more complex snoring problems.
Materials
Mute is made from ultra-soft medical-grade polymers and is anatomically designed to hug the internal structure of the nose for ideal comfort & fit. Mute is latex free and 100% recyclable.
Benefits
- Stays in all night: Mute is designed with retention fins to ensure the device stays comfortably in place all night.
- Improves sleep: Mute has been anatomically designed to improve sleep by increasing air flow on average by 38% (Clinical trial conducted at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Australia).
- Comfortable: Mute is made from ultra-soft medical-grade polymers and is anatomically designed to hug the internal structure of the nose for ideal comfort & fit. Mute is latex free and 100% recyclable.
- Personalised fit: Mute is the only nasal stent or dilator that uses a patented dilation technology to further personalise the fit by adjusting the paddles.
- Gentle stent action: Mute gently stents (holds open) the airway from the internal sidewall of the nose while minimising pressure on the septum.
How to use
How to use Mute
- Hold the bridge of the product with the loops facing toward you and the paddles away from you.
- Gently place the loops in first and tilt the bridge upwards towards the tip of your nose and insert.
- Mute should sit all the way inside the nose with only the bridge showing & spanning across the top of the nostrils.
- If mute feels loose or you want greater airflow, you can expand the loops by gently clicking the paddles outwards.

Additional FAQs
Do nasal dilators work and how do they help with snoring?
Nasal dilators don’t cure snoring, but they can make a real difference if your snoring is caused by blocked or narrow nasal passages. Worn inside the nostrils, they gently widen the nasal valves, reducing resistance and improving airflow. This can ease nasal-based snoring, support clearer breathing through the nose, and reduce mouth breathing.
They’re less effective if your snoring comes from the throat or tongue collapsing during sleep, in which case another type of solution may be more suitable. You can take our interactive snore quiz to help determine your snoring type.
What’s the difference between nasal dilators and nasal strips?
Nasal dilators and nasal strips are sometimes referred to as internal and external nasal dilators. Both aim to improve airflow, but they work in different ways:
- Internal nasal dilators (or nasal valve dilators) are small inserts worn inside the nostrils. They gently hold the nasal passages open and are usually reusable, providing consistent support throughout the night. Some are designed to provide extra support for weak or collapsing nasal valves.
- External nasal dilators (or nasal strips) are adhesive bands placed across the outside of the nose. They work by gently lifting the sides of the nose to open the airways.
Many people prefer the comfort and reusability of internal dilators, while others like the convenience of disposable strips.
Are there different types of nasal dilators?
Yes. Internal nasal dilators (sometimes called nasal valve dilators) are small, reusable inserts worn inside the nostrils, while external dilators (nasal strips) are disposable adhesive bands placed across the outside of the nose. You may also come across magnetic nasal dilators, magnetic nose clips, or nose magnets, which are a more recent innovation. These devices include small magnets and are designed to hold the nostrils open in a similar way, helping to improve airflow and reduce nasal snoring.
Are nasal dilators safe to use every night?
Most nasal dilators are safe for regular nightly use. Internal dilators can be cleaned and reused but should be replaced after the period recommended by the manufacturer for hygiene. External dilators (nasal strips) are single-use and should be discarded after each night. Always read the instructions for use, as these include important details on cleaning, replacement, suitability, possible side effects, and any cautions.
How do I clean a nasal dilator?
Reusable nasal dilators should be cleaned regularly to keep them hygienic and in good condition. After each use, rinse the dilator under warm water and gently wash it with mild soap. Allow it to air-dry completely before storing it in a clean case. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions, as some types (including silicone nasal valve dilators) may have specific cleaning or replacement guidance.
