Additional FAQs

What are the best ear plugs for snoring?

The best ear plugs for snoring depend on your comfort and the level of noise you need to block. Foam ear plugs expand in the ear canal, while silicone earplugs mould to the shape of your ear. There are also specialist options like noise cancelling earplugs for snoring and isolate ear plugs. For very loud snoring, dense high-decibel (dB) ear plugs for sleeping may be more effective. Ear plugs are rated by their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), which typically ranges from 22 dB to 37 dB – the higher the rating, the more noise they can reduce.

How do I put ear plugs in correctly?

For foam ear plugs, roll the plug into a small, tight cylinder, then reach over your head with the opposite hand to gently pull your ear upwards. Insert the plug into the ear canal and hold it in place while it expands to create a snug fit. Silicone and reusable ear plugs are pressed or twisted gently into place. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as fitting methods can vary. Insert them carefully and never push them too deep, as this can cause discomfort or damage to the eardrum.

Is it safe to sleep with ear plugs in every night?

Ear plugs are generally safe to use every night, as long as you follow good hygiene. Wash your hands before handling them, clean reusable plugs regularly, and replace single-use foam ear plugs often. Keeping them clean and dry helps lower the risk of irritation, earwax build-up, or infection. Avoid pushing ear plugs too far into the ear canal, as this can cause discomfort or wax blockage. If you notice pressure, itching, or soreness, try a different type or size – or consult a healthcare professional for advice.

Do ear plugs damage your ears?

When used properly, ear plugs are safe and should not damage your ears. Issues usually arise if they’re inserted too deeply, used when dirty, or not replaced often enough, which can lead to irritation or wax build-up. To prevent problems, insert them gently, keep them clean, and follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance. If you have ongoing ear problems, it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional before using ear plugs regularly.

Mack's Pillow Soft® Earplugs

These earplugs are completely different to any I have seen or used before. They are not the conventional type which fit along your ear canal. I can only liken them to like having blue tack in the opening of your ear. That might sound not very good, but for me, I am very pleased not to have to try to push an earplug along my ear canal – which surely can only be a good thing ? I have spent much time trying to wedge conventional earplugs into my ears to try to make them effective in blocking out enough sound – almost exclusively to little effect. However, over the last two weeks that I have been using them, I have found them to be revolutionary. Having slept in separate rooms for a few years from my partner, we decided to try to sleep in the same room again, but after a few months of tortuous sleeping, with me shouting at him throughout the night to roll over or just plainly STOP SNORING, with these earplugs, as the other reviews have said, they block out enough of the sound to make sleeping possible. The trick I have found is to ensure that you get a good seal with them – which I have found is relatively easy to so – much easier than using conventional, and ineffective ear plugs that sit in the ear canal. As an ear plug user who has been trying to block out snoring for quite a few years, I have found these ear plugs to be revolutionary. I am no longer looking at going back into separate rooms from my partner.

Peace at last

I am a very light sleeper, have suffered for years with lack of sleep due to my partner snoring, noisy hotel rooms, sleepless nights when staying with friends and family. I have tried all different sorts of ear plugs. No other product has worked as efficiently or felt as comfortable. Thank you.

good product

Much more comfortable than any other earplugs. Block sound pretty well. We have airplanes passing near the house once in a while and these block the sound well especially the first time you use them.

snoring

Hi there, for years my husband and I have slept in separate rooms because of his extremely loud snoring, we couldn’t even go on holiday and stay in a Hotel, it always had to be apartments. I purchased these ear plugs and they are wonderful. I can still hear him snore but at least its in the distance and I am able to sleep. Thank you so much

Effective Remedy

I too have been using Macks for a long time as my husband’s snoring is unbearable. They certainly block out enough of the racket for me to get to sleep (eventually!). However, if one of them loosens or falls out during the night I can hear him again. They are comfortable and they are very effective – beats murdering him, I suppose.
