Well, it does work and that's the main thing. It's not nice to have a mouth full of plastic but you do get quite used to it. I have to use a chin strap with the guard as occasionally my mouth opens in the night. I found it quite difficult to attach and remove the extension strips. I am thinking of upgrading to the more expensive but less intrusive version.

I'm now on my third one of these. To be honest, I find these only effective for about a year, before the fit (even with remoulding) goes off. One way round this is to use a dot of denture fixative on either plate. It's a bit yucky, but it does work. Like other reviewers, my partner (wife) says it's less effective if I have a drink. It also helps if you just 'fess up to being overweight and lose some!

Does it work? Well, to be honest, I'm not sure! Took a while to get fitted properly, I think I moulded it 4 times in all, but now fits and doesn't fall out whilst asleep. After using it for 4 weeks, I'm feeling a little more with it during the day, but I have not felt the huge change I was perhaps overly hopefull for. Docs were undecided but suggested a MAD before thinking about tonsil removal (they're big!). Might be looking at that now.
Tomed SomnoGuard SP Soft
on the 8th Apr 2010
Having tried Tomed SomnoGuard and bitten through it due to my night time teeth grinding I thought I would try this product as it looks stronger and the principle did seem to help me get a better nights sleep and reduce the snoring/chocking sensation I had in the night. This product was easier to fit than the first and does seem to help with my sleeping problem. However my jaw does feel very sore in the morning and it takes me till lunchtime before it feels normal.
