Allen Davey MA Biography
With old-fashioned values, it is often joked that Allen was born 65 years old. Actually, he is quite young at heart - born in the early 50s. Public School and University educated he spent the first 20 years of his adult life working in industry, progressing up to fellowship level in three chartered institutes and rising to the board of directors of a multi-national company.
He has always been a snorer, and has absolute empathy with all snorers that come to him for help. Before setting up the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association with his wife, Marianne, he spent years researching and devouring all the medical literature then available. He now has more than 25 years' experience in sleep medicine having studied at The Royal Society of Medicine and St Thomas' Hospital, London, The Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, and, with the British Sleep Society, Robinson College, Cambridge.
He is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Sleep Society, the British Thoracic Society, the European Society of Sleep Technologists, and the European Sleep Research Society.
He has been interviewed extensively on TV and Radio and is often consulted on his expert field of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
A lover of all things technical, he established and continues to run the busy home sleep study service for BSSAA.
In his leisure time, he enjoys dancing, all types of music, electronics, DIY, and watching detective dramas and comedy on TV.
As Managing Director of BSSAA, his core activities, other than giving expert advice to callers to the help-line, are corporate governance, regulatory compliance, the Information Standard, finance and developing the Association to meet future needs.
